Select the directories and file types to be indexed

• You may wish to define a project embracing all of your drives and through it have search access to all your data in one lump.
• In addition you might want to define an own project for each major customer, limited to those files pertaining to that customer. Using it you'll only get hits within the files regarding that customer, resulting in shorter file lists and thus in quicker finding of files.

Example: You want to find out the version number of the product delivered to your customer Mr. Meier.

The search for "Version" in the project for the whole disk delivers 32 files, so you'll have to scroll the matching file list or use an AND-Filter on it:
If however the project for Mr. Meier is used, then there'll only be one document found - the one you want.

In addition, using a different menu entry, you can define a list of directories which are not to be indexed. This list is a global exclusion, valid for all projects.

Assuming your operating system is installed on drive C:, then the initial (default) list of directories to always be ignored is:

• »C:\WINDOWS«, the directory containing the operating system,
• »C:\Programs«, the standard directory for installation of programs,
• »C:\RECYCLED« bzw. »C:\RECYCLER« for the trash can,
• »System Volume Information«, which contains recovery data - one instance per drive.
